Audrey Sides
SIDES Audrey We said goodbye to Audrey Ellen Sides (née Stewart) who died peacefully in her home on 12 February 2024 after a long and valiant battle with cancer, surrounded by members of both her family. Born 10 May 1937 in Badsey as the youngest of three daughters to George Henry (Harry) and Evelyn Stewart, Audrey was educated at Malvern Girls' College before working briefly in Cheltenham and at Bourne and Hollingsworth in London. Audrey then returned to the Vale, where she ran a nursery school in Bengeworth for many years, and later opened her own casual clothes shop called Bak Sides in Waterside. A great lover of the outdoors, Audrey was rarely seen without one of her beloved dogs and throughout her life, she travelled widely at home and abroad and spent many happy times with her vast circle of friends. In later life she volunteered her time to St Richard's Hospice and the probation service. She is survived by her three sons, Ian, Michael and Philip and her four grandchildren, Lucas, Jacob, William and Tabitha. A memorial service will be held at St James' Church, Badsey on Friday 1st March 2024 at 12noon, followed by a private cremation at The Vale Crematorium. The family ask that rather than flowers, mourners consider making a donation to either Campden Home Nursing or St Richard's Hospice, both organisations having given Audrey and the family invaluable support over the last few months.
