GRANT Victor Patton April 9th 1918 July 8th 2018 Our Dad, Victor Patton Grant, has completed his amazing 100-year journey down the the path of life. Dad was born April 9th, 1918, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and he completed his journey on July 8th, 2018 in 'The Barn' in Evesham, Worcs., England. As the ability to maintain his independence waned due to age he declared he's had a wonderful life but it's time to go. Five weeks later he left. While serving with the RCAF as a navigator during World War 2 Dad transplanted his heart to Evesham back on July 9th, 1942, the day he married the love of his life, our Mother Sheila Sinclair, who predeceased him in 2008. The results of that lifelong bond were Son Vic, Daughters Colleen and Michele, three Grandchildren, Colleen, Nicki, and Mitch, and one Great Grandson, Carson. At the end of the military conflict dad brought his 'war bride' back to Canada, re-settled in Winnipeg where they resided until 1961 before moving on to Montreal during a career with Trans Canada Airline/Air Canada. Upon retirement dad took his 'war bride' back home to Evesham where they enjoyed many fulfilling years and the company of extended family and close friends. While his heart remained in England he always referred to Winnipeg as home where they constructed the first family home on Belvidere St., in St. James. One of the highlights of Dad's 100th birthday party was the opportunity to pose for a family picture of the four generations. Dad was constantly asked his secrets to longevity. He would respond that constant movement, the 5bx military exercise, a continued push to stay current with ongoing technology, and last, but certainly not least, a dram of single malt on occasion. Dad's first impression upon people was a lasting one and as he embarked on his final journey he was read a message from friends saying, "Mr. Grant, you have left a lasting impression upon us. you are a kind, intelligent, gentle, and thoughtful man . We consider it a privilege to have known you." That described our Dad and we can only add that it was a unique privilege having you around as the father you were for 75 years. You have now slipped the surly bonds of earth but you are forever remembered Private family cremation.
