AN Elderflower presse and Elderflower & Gooseberry presse drink produced by Nurses Cottage, based in Little Comberton, will be displaying a Great Taste 2012 logo after being judged by a panel of the nation’s most discerning food experts.

Nurses Cottage is a husband- and-wife team of Lucy and Andrew Rollett producing soft drinks with an elderflower theme. The drinks are sold through local farm shops, delis, restaurants and at music festivals throughout the year.

Nurses Cottage also won the Cotswold Life Food and Drink award with an elderflower cordial recently.

Lucy Rollett, of Nurses Cottage, said to achieve ‘Gold in Great Taste’ was a significant achievement for any food or drink producer and the results were eagerly awaited.

The scheme, run by the Guild of Fine Food, has been described as the epicurean equivalent of the Booker Prize and this year a total of 8,807 different food and drink products were entered.

Mrs Rollett said: “This is a great boost for our very little drinks company. We entered three products this year – and to have two of them awarded is great news.”

Judges this year included Masterchef winner and restaurateur Mat Follas, restaurant critic and Masterchef judge Charles Campion, food writers Lucas Hollweg and Xanthe Clay along with more than 300 food buyers.
