WITH its unique collection of buildings and picturesque mill stream winding through it, Blockley is well used to being photographed.
But now it is to be captured on film as part of the new BBC series Father Brown which is being filmed in the Cotswolds.
Ten episodes are being filmed at the vicarage and Blockley Church as well as in various locations in the area including Lower Slaughter, Dumbleton and the GWR station at Winchcombe.
The Catholic sleuthing priest, a fictional character created by English novelist G K Chesterton, is being played by Mark Williams while Sorcha Cusack is playing his housekeeper.
Residents and visitors might also catch a glimpse of Hugo Speer, who was in The Full Monty, in his role as Inspector Valentine.
Rev Grahame Humphries, of Blockley Church, said he was looking forward to see the finished programme.
“It will be quite interesting to see it on screen,” he said.
“It’s rather fun to see where you’ve lived in a TV series. If it’s successful they may want to come back again next year. It’s good for Blockley.”
Chris McCluskey, publicist for BBC Vision, said: “Father Brown is currently filming in the Cotswolds.
The beautiful stone villages and gently rolling hills are the epitome of the perfect English countryside.
“Many of the villages have a timeless quality, providing a stunning backdrop for a period drama.”
Father Brown will be shown on BBC One Daytime in early 2013.
