VOTER registration forms have recently been dropped through letterboxes across the Cotswolds.
Cotswold District Council are currently updating their electoral register and are urging residents to respond as soon as possible to ensure they are registered to vote in future elections.
Nigel Adams, the Council’s Electoral Registration Officer, said: “Registering to vote is very simple.
“All you have to do is update the annual canvass form with the details of everyone in your household who is eligible to vote, and return it to us as soon as possible.
“If your details haven’t changed, you can also reply by phone or online. There was a lot of interest in this year’s local elections and the referendum on the UK voting system, and we were pleased with the increase in registration shortly before polling day. However, some people may not realise that they have to register every year.”
On the electoral registration form, residents can opt to have their details excluded from the edited register so their details cannot be bought by individuals and commercial organisations. Residents can also ‘opt out’ when registering with the Council by phone or online.
For more information or to receive a new form, contact the Council’s Electoral Team on 01285 623002, or e-mail elections@cotswold.gov.uk.
