NORTH Cotswold Community Radio has even more good news to broadcast.

After announcing last week that it is moving into a permanent home - the basement rooms of the Old Police Station in Chipping Campden - the station has announced it has received a grant from the Cotswold Conservation Board.

The cash, from the board's sustainable development fund, will enable the station to buy the equipment it needs to start full-scale broadcasting.

At present it is running test transmissions featuring unsigned local talent on www.northcotswoldonline.com The conservation board oversees the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and supports local projects that bring social, environmental and economic benefits to the Cotswolds.

Bob Foote, vice chairman for North Cotswold Community Radio, said: "We are very grateful to the board for the encouragement and support they are giving us.

"Without their support the idea of a local community radio station for the North Cotswold area would still only be an idea.

"Their support has allowed us to go ahead with the procurement of studio equipment to allow us to get a step nearer to broadcasting from Chipping Camden."
